Watch Several Dave Grohls 'Play' A 23-Minute Rock Song

Dave Grohl unveils Play, a new 23-minute recording and mini-documentary: Watch

The Foo Fighters frontman goes the extra mile for his new project entitled "Play".

Dave Grohl has officially unleashed his first ever solo track, and of course it's a 23-minute multi-instrumental odyssey.

PLAY, which is directed by Grohl, is about "celebrating the rewards and challenges of dedicating ones life to playing and mastering a musical instrument".

It adds: "The PLAY film then segues to the titular 23-minute, one-man-band instrumental recording on which Grohl plays all seven instruments on the track, all live".

The film was self-directed by Grohl alongside Sound City/Sonic Highways collaborator Mark Monroe, with assistance from cinematographer Brandon Trost (The Disaster Artist, This is The End) and engineer Darrell Thorp.

At about 8:30 into the video, multiple versions of Grohl, each wielding a different instrument, begin playing the song, an instrumental rocker that's full of heavy riffs, head-bobbing grooves, and an energy and quality that could really only come from Grohl, one of the greatest rock songwriters and performers we have.

Fans can also visit play.roswellfims.com for an interactive PLAY experience and choosing which audio and video they'd like to experience. The online version of "Play" also includes a list of organizations where time, money and instruments can be donated to the cause - and places where musicians young and old alike can have the opportunity to play live music.

Play will be released on limited edition vinyl on September 28 and is now available for pre-order.
