Sony Pushing For "Venom" To Have PG-13 Rating

Tom Hardy gives rare insight into friendship with legend Prince Harry – see what he had to say

Like a "turd in the wind", Venom is slowly but surely rolling towards us for it's October release.

Sony's Marvel Universe is by far one of the most confusing enterprises now going, and though Tom Hardy's Venom looks better by the day, no one really knows who the franchise is for, with an apparent connection to Disney's MCU still up in the air, and Tom Holland's Spider-Man nowhere to be seen. Along with Morbius, Sony has brought in writer Richard Wenk (Equalizer 2) to start on a script that will cover one of Spider-Man's most famous foes, Kraven the Hunter. This also includes the many heroes and villains who have appeared in Spider-Man comics over the years, and there are various spin-off movies on the way, including the upcoming Venom. Thanks to the two studios' mutual appreciation of just how valuable a main character Spider-Man is, Sony's reportedly amenable to the idea of finding more walk-on roles for MCU characters in future Spider-Man films - much like Spidey himself stowed away with Tony Stark in Avengers: Infinity War. Instead, it will split the characters off into their own solo features, with the first likely to focus on Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy.

Black Cat and Silver Sable are going their separate ways. Unfortunately for die hard Venom fans, Sony is aiming to keep the anti-hero at the PG-13 range, but is said to be pushing the envelope with the rating. Variety reports that the film is "unlikely" to hit an R-rating, as some in the studio believe the film should push the limits of PG-13 without crossing that line.
