Bethesda wants to keep Fallout in-house

The company adopted Battlecry Studios, turning it into Bethesda Game Studios Austin in March of this year; a move specifically aimed at aiding with Fallout 76's development.

These earlier successes don't mean that Bethesda has any plans of letting an external studio touch their beloved license in the future.

Although the project was well-received by gamers along with supporting reviews from critics, Bethesda's chief Todd Howard has indicated in an interview that the studio is concentrated more on developing big titles like Fallout series within their own business.

"I wouldn't say never", he told the paper. "I think that's how it should be". As explained in NoClip's documentary about the making of Fallout 76; the developers at Battlecry were much more experienced at developing multiplayer games.

"But for something like Morrowind, my personal preference is not to remaster it". I think that's how it should be. For one, you get to literally drop nukes on other players' heads.

"I think streaming technology is definitely coming, and it's gonna make people's access to games infinitely easier. I actually prefer that over remasters", said Howard.

Howard's comments are sure to dash the hopes of many fans, but his vision for the future at Bethesda could provided a much needed lift to those affected. It's not just a diversion from their regular lives; for a lot of people it becomes an important part of their lives.

"In our previous games, if you're walking up a hill and there's an enemy NPC we've placed there, there's a little red thing that shows up on your compass to say "that guy's a bad guy". I always felt that way ...
