Pompeo: North to return USA soldiers' remains soon

North Korea puts reunion of war separated families in doubt

North Korea's economy contracted at the sharpest rate in two decades in 2017, South Korea's central bank estimated on Friday, in a clear sign global sanctions imposed to stop Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programmes have hit growth hard.

The US president also accused the past administration of engaging North Korea in endless negotiations, something which eventually went on to defeat the goal.

"There is no rush, the sanctions remain!"

Earlier in the day, the South's media outlets reported that the heads of the North's embassies and other missions were called in for what is "presumed to be an ambassadorial meeting", citing unnamed sources.

More than one month after the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, North Korea has yet to make good on its promise to return the remains of American war dead.

"A major topic of discussion was North Korea and the need for it to remove its nuclear weapons".

According to the BOK, the North had a per-capita Gross National Income of 1.46 million won (US$1,011), while the South's was 23 times higher. We have no speed limit.

Mr Kim vowed to switch the focus from the development of North Korea's nuclear arsenal to emulating China's "socialist economic construction" before he held an unprecedented summit with President Donald Trump in Singapore in June.

Mr Trump had been talked to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in last month regarding to that plans, process and pledged to denuclearize the Korea peninsula.

President Donald Trump has now said there is no hurry to denuclearise North Korea - having previously said the process would start very soon.

However, Trump last week signaled optimism, unveiling a letter from Kim in which the young leader hailed the "start of a meaningful journey" and tweeting "Great progress being made!" But some of those report's authors have cautioned against reading too much into the various analysis. He noted that the United States and Russian Federation have 90 percent of the world's nuclear weapons and said, "We could have a big impact" on nonproliferation.

But since the summit, Trump and his top aides have been preaching patience when it comes to working with Kim.

More than a month later, no concrete progress has been reported and North Korea has complained that the United States is making unilateral demands. He said negotiations with North Korea are a "decades-long challenge" that involves North Korea making a fundamental shift in its strategic decision making.
