Trump has said he is open to a new deal that would cover not only Iran's nuclear facilities, but also its missile program and regional interventions.

Iran has been roiled by nationwide riots after Mr. Trump pulled out of an worldwide nuclear deal first brokered in 2015 by then-president Barack Obama.

Originally Trump demanded all other countries to stop buying its crude by November but now he says the United States may grant waivers to some allies heavily particularly reliant on Iranian supplies.

Khamenei said on Saturday it was an "obvious" mistake to negotiate with the U.S. because it does not abide by agreements.
