Federal Bureau of Investigation releases documents on former Trump adviser surveillance

The Justice Department on Saturday released redacted applications for surveillance warrants on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Several news organizations, including CNN, The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Hill received copies of the FISA documents by filing Freedom of Information Act lawsuits.

For months, the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes, and fellow Republicans on the same committee have been attacking the Federal Bureau of Investigation over a FISA warrant issued against Trump campaign advisor, Carter Page back in October 2016.

Although the 412-page document is heavily redacted but details concerns the Federal Bureau of Investigation had about Mr. Page, who has denied being a Russian spy. Page is alleged in the documents to have had "established relationships with Russian Government officials, including Russian intelligence officers".

Page has denied being a Russian agent.

After a redaction, the the application to wiretap Page included a partial sentence: '. undermine and influence the outcome of the 2016 US presidential election in violation of USA criminal law'. The FBI later posted the documents to its FOIA website online.

Putin Proposed Eastern Ukraine Referendum to Trump, Bloomberg Reports
The problem is that President Trump's controversial stance on Russian Federation comes down to more than just a few letters. Merkel's comments Friday came after President Donald Trump invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the White House.

"No Collusion, No Obstruction - but that doesn't matter because the 13 Angry Democrats, who are only after Republicans and totally protecting Democrats, want this Witch Hunt to drag out to the November Election", he added. Critics of special counsel Robert Mueller claim the FISA warrant was spurred exclusively by the dossier gathered by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele that was paid for by Democrats as part of Trump opposition research.

Republicans lawmakers have contended that the Federal Bureau of Investigation made serious missteps when it sought a warrant to monitor Page in October 2016 shortly after he left the Trump campaign. But they also said the bureau believed the information cited in the application "to be credible" because that person provided reliable information in the past.

Nunes stated that a Yahoo News article in which Christopher Steele was the source, was used to corroborate the Steele dossier.

After the FISA documents were published, President Donald Trump criticized special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. "The GOP must cease their attacks on our law enforcement and intelligence communities, and finally decide where their loyalty lies".

The documents released said "the Federal Bureau of Investigation believes that the Russian Government's efforts are being coordinated with Page and perhaps other individuals associated with" Trump's campaign.
