Vivo Nex with true FullView display, motorised front-camera debuts in India

Chinese device maker Vivo has launched the much awaited all-display flagship smartphone NEX in India. There are several highlights of the smartphone, including its in-display fingerprint sensor, its pop-up selfie camera, as well as its top-end specifications that include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and 8GB of RAM. The fingerprint scanner has found its way underneath the display, the front camera is housed in a mechanism that pops up from within the smartphone, the earpiece has been replaced with a motor that vibrates the screen. The smartphone launched in China is available in two variants - Nex A and Nex S, while the Indian market will see only a single variant that will be christened as Nex. The Vivo NEX device comes with a price of Rs 44,990 and will be available for purchase on Amazon.in and Vivo store beginning July 21. It nearly offers 91.2% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood is the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 630 GPU.

It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based FunTouch OS 4.0 out of the box. In India, the Vivo NEX will be coming with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

In terms of optics, the Vivo Nex features a dual camera setup at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel primary dual pixel camera with a Sony IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, dual LED flash and a secondary 5-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture.

Vivo Nex was launched in India on Thursday, at an event in New Delhi. It bears an 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture, and Vivo is touting features like Portrait Bokeh, AR Stickers, and Face Beauty. Unlike the OPPO Find X, the Vivo NEX lacks the face unlock options. It can also record 4K resolution and 1080p slow motion videos. It uses the sound casting technology which makes the whole display reflect the sound through vibrations. Apart from this, users will get one-time free screen replacement on the purchase of Vivo NEX. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and comes bundled with a 22.5W fast charging adapter. It measures 162 x 77 x 7.98mm and weighs 197 grams. It is priced at Rs 44,990 and will go on sale starting from July 21st.
