Summer League's breakout player is a quiet LeBron weapon

LeBron James congratulates Josh Hart on Summer League MVP'#LakeShow

Portland defeated LA 91-73 at the Thomas & Mack Center on Tuesday to complete an undefeated 7-0 run through the Las Vegas Summer League and claim the franchise's first Summer League title. In the grand scheme of things, that doesn't mean much, but for a Lakers' roster that looks devoid of perimeter shooting, Hart could be the answer.

If Los Angeles does not make any other moves this offseason, it enters the season with a slew of guards and wingmen to complement James.

Self-proclaimed as the Fortnite King of the NBA, Josh Hart likely took this personally. "This team is tough, is gutty and determined to win". I play this game to win. "We had some experienced players but there wasn't one guy who didn't need to be in Summer League and show what they could do".

He's playing unbelievable in Las Vegas. "It's fun for us to play them again, we had a tough loss previous year, didn't have our best game".

"I don't go for individual accolades", said Hart, who finished with 12 points in the title game.

Even before the Summer League, the Lakers were really appreciative of Hart's defensive and rebounding abilities. The Lakers made it to the Summer League finals, where they will face Portland Trail Blazers.

Representing a total of five teams in the process - including the Los Angeles Lakers, the Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers to name a few - these Seminoles didn't just go through the motions during their time in Sin City. The half ended with the Lakers down by 17 points, 50-33. Rathan-Mayes followed Ayres' lay-in with a slashing lay-up to put the Lakers up 110-106 with 22 seconds left. He was joined by Josh Hart's teammate Sviastoslav Mykhailiuk, Memphis Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Junior, Portland Trailblazers' Wade Baldwin IV, and Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young. Swanigan scored 21 points and had 16 rebounds, while Collins had 13 and 12. His Blazers did not trail once in the game.
