Super-Mom Serena into 10th Wimbledon final

Angelique Kerber

Serena Williams is headed to her 30th Grand Slam singles final after beating Julia Goerges in the 2018 Wimbledon semi-final on Thursday.

Yes, this will be Serena Williams' 10th Wimbledon final.

- This was an emotional fifth Wimbledon title for Serena after injury and health issues forced her to the sidelines for over a year between 2010 and 2012.

A game built on rugged defense, counter-punching and a tricky leftie serve gives her a chance of throwing Williams off her relentless stride. "It's insane. I don't even know how to feel because I literally didn't think I'd do this well in my fourth tournament back" she said in the post match interview. She won here I don't know how many times.

Williams has already stormed to the women's singles final and faces 2016 Wimbledon finalist Angelique Kerber on Saturday.

Williams will be seeking a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title and her first since giving birth in September. "I'm so excited", Kerber said. I'm enjoying every moment. "I honestly felt I would have done better in some of the earlier tournaments".

After winning her semifinal against Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-3, Kerber was asked what she sees across the net when she goes up against Williams. The American didn't drop a set in the entire tournament and Russian 21st seed Zvonareva, playing in her first Grand Slam final, was no match.

Drake weighed in and declared Smith the victor of the challenge. "I woke up #InMyFeelings ", Smith captioned his video. Smith took the challenge and smashed it by climbing a bridge in Budapest and dancing on top of it.

"Believe me, I know she wants to go out there and win". Kerber also won that year's U.S. Open, replacing Williams atop the WTA rankings right afterward. She played so brilliantly, moving around the court so well and hitting with such power that at some point, we stopped thinking about her as a woman overcoming improbable odds and instead started expecting the results of a player who had won six of the previous 10 Grand Slams she contested before announcing to the world she was pregnant.

Just 10 months after giving birth in traumatic circumstances and four tournaments into her return, Serena Williams stands on the brink of rewriting the history books once more. I had multiple surgeries and almost didn't make it when I gave birth.

'She's trying to, yeah, playing like she played the years before where she won the big matches.

"So if she wins one now, I think she will get another two, three or four most probably. This was not inevitable for me". "It was quite tough but I'm happy to be through". There was a time I could barely walk to my mailbox.

Williams took a 19-match Wimbledon winning streak into the day. That was also the year the German was the runner-up at Wimbledon, losing to Serena Williams in the title match.

They've played each other a total of eight times in the past, and Williams leads 6-2. Or, more to the point on this afternoon, how such a stinging serve and groundstrokes didn't help her avoid first-round exits each of the past five years at Wimbledon. Both players advanced to the final with a relatively comfortable straight-set win in their respective semifinal matches.

There was one brief blip to come: Williams got broken for the only time while serving for the match at 5-3.
