FBI agent Peter Strzok say political bias did not impact investigations

Hearing a 'victory notch in Putin's belt': FBI agent in Russia probe

Strzok was testifying before a joint hearing of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, where he defended himself against claims he allowed his personal biases to affect his investigation into alleged ties between President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian Federation.

Giuliani reiterated the president's nickname for special counsel Robert Mueller's probe-"witch hunt"-and claimed the probe should be wrapped up as soon as possible". He also said he had never contemplated leaking damaging information he knew about the Trump campaign.

'At no time in any of these texts did those personal beliefs ever enter into the realm of any action I took, ' Strzok said.

Rep. Gohmert went after FBI agent Peter Strzok for cheating on his wife throughout the investigations into Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

"I don't believe I did", Strzok replied. "Those were the areas, I think, that were the most productive".

In the prepared remarks, Strzok acknowledges that while his text message criticism was "blunt", it was not directed at one person or political party, and included jabs not only at Trump, but also at Clinton as well as Sen.

Democrats led by top Judiciary Committee Democrat Jerrold Nadler of NY on Friday continued to cast the Republican-driven effort as a campaign to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's inquiry into Russian meddling and whether anyone in the Trump campaign was involved in it.

Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who represents Trenton, Princeton and Old Bridge, interrupted Gowdy and said Strzok is the one testifying, not the former Greenville prosecutor.

Strzok endured roughly 11 hours of testimony before House lawmakers Thursday, with many Republicans focusing on his text of "we'll stop it" in reference to Trump's campaign.

"Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took", the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent said during the contentious hearing in Congress. "So, I take great offense, and I take great disagreement to your assertion of what that was or wasn't".

Aspencrow admitted he had neither met nor spoken to McGregor directly, communicating instead via one of the fighter's friends. Without bus, without other things, we just have to fight but I don't think the UFC can make the decision about this fight.

The South Carolina Republican later issued a statement on the latest indictment, "As I have repeatedly said, it is clear, based on the evidence, Russian Federation had disdain for Secretary Clinton and was motivated in whole or in part by a desire to harm her candidacy or undermine her presidency had she prevailed".

"That is who we are as the FBI", Strzok said in an animated riff that drew Democratic applause. The former Federal Bureau of Investigation counter-intelligence agent stridently claimed his messages with Page were not evidence of extreme bias against Trump and often derided House Republicans for investigating him. "It simply couldn't happen".

The closed hearing was convened jointly by the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. "If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would", said Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN). The 26-year Federal Bureau of Investigation veteran Strzok faced myriad attacks on his professional and personal life from House Republicans over his text messages and affair with former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer Lisa Page.

At one point, Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Texas Republican, invoked Strzok's personal life by alluding to the fact the texts were exchanged while he and Page were in a relationship. Gohmert speculated about whether he looked "so innocent" when he looked into his wife's eyes and lied about the affair.

Democrats, however, agreed with the sentiment expressed by their colleague, California congressman Ted Lieu: "Let me start by saying, this is a stupid and ridiculous hearing". Gohmert tried to shout over him and the committee chairman vainly tried to restore order.

At one point, Strzok refused to answer questions, citing a directive by Federal Bureau of Investigation attorneys, leading the chairman to threaten him with contempt of Congress.

The Justice Department's inspector general has criticized Strzok and Page for creating the appearance of impropriety through the texts.

"Peter Strzok's testimony was a disgrace", Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for the president, said on Twitter.

Her lawyer said Page had offered to voluntarily appear before the committees later this month but needed more clarification about what the lawmakers would be asking.
