Shouting, Insults As FBI Agent Faces Angry Republicans

Nato Jens Stoltenberg Donald Trump

Page worked on the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation, and her anti-Trump text messages with Peter Strzok fueled several investigations into whether the DOJ and FBI showed bias during the Russian Federation probe and the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server.

The partisan bickering and speeches disguised as questions brought little honor to either the House Oversight or Judiciary committees in Thursday's three-ring circus masquerading as a hearing.

The hearing exposed clear partisan divides in the House judiciary and oversight committees, as Democrats accused Republicans of trying to divert attention from Trump's ties to Russian Federation by excessively focusing on Strzok. Strzok's testimony, under oath, is that Bruce Ohr provided information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation that included material compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele - the Russian dossier. Stzrok wasn't "contrite" about his texts, which do show bias against Trump, but House Republicans promised to uncover facts, he said, and in 10 hours, "no proof was offered that Strzok did something acting on bias".

"The fact you would accuse me otherwise, the fact you would question whether or not that was the sort of look I would engage in with a family member who I have acknowledged hurting, goes more to a discussion about your character and what you stand for and what's going inside you", he said, before being interrupted. "If you want to represent what you said accurately I am happy to answer that question, but I don't appreciate what was originally said being changed".

In the prepared remarks, Strzok acknowledges that while his text message criticism was "blunt", it was not directed at one person or political party, and included jabs not only at Trump, but also at Clinton as well as Sen.

"If you can't control yourself", Democratic Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman charged Gowdy, "how do you expect this committee to control itself?" Strzok replied: "No, he's not".

"If you were kicked off when he read the texts, shouldn't you have been kicked off when you wrote them?" He said the text, written late at night and off-the-cuff, reflected his belief that Americans would not stomach such "horrible, disgusting behaviour" by the presidential candidate.

But DeSantis was critical of Strzok's answers to the committee.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said the congressional focus on the "internal workings of the special counsel's investigation" distracts from more critical questions about Russian meddling in the 2016 election and the need to protect future USA elections from foreign influence. "No, he's not. We'll stop it". Last year, he was reassigned from Mueller's team after the compromising texts emerged. But the report said it found no evidence of political bias in the FBI's decision to not pursue criminal charges against Clinton.

Former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom told FOX Business that the "lies" perpetrated by FBI agent Peter Strzok are consistent with the lack of leadership exemplified by the agency's former director, James Comey.

Committee members sought to question Strzok about the texts and to determine how, if at all, his anti-Trump bias impacted the investigations.

Goodlatte told Alisyn Camerota on CNN's "New Day" Thursday morning that Page had agreed to an interview Friday.

Rudy Giuliani opened up a new front late Thursday night in his war against Special Counsel Robert Mueller, saying that his entire Russian Federation probe should be tossed out because a former key investigator's "pathological hatred" of Donald Trump has tainted everything in his path.
