Trey Gowdy vs. Peter Strzok: 15 minutes of fiery exchanges

FBI agent Peter Strzok arrives for a closed-door hearing on June 27 before the House Judiciary Committee

Political observers were far from impressed today when the House Judiciary Committee plunged into total madness during their hearing with Peter Strzok.

"I don't appreciate what was originally said being changed", Strzok said, accusing Gowdy of misrepresenting his earlier testimony.

Strzok also expressed regret for the messages he and Page exchanged, but emphasized that his personal opinions did not impact any of his official actions.

Strzok also worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's inquiry into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

To Democrats deriding the committees for their investigation into allegations of bias at the FBI, Goodlatte said "the American people hope you will understand that this investigation goes to the very heart of our system of justice, one that is supposed to be fair and treat everyone equally under the law".

Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., criticized what they called the clear bias against Trump that Strzok and Page had demonstrated and they lectured Strzok about his refusal to answer questions based on instructions from the FBI's attorneys.

"It is not my understanding that [Robert Mueller] kicked me off because of any bias", Strzok said. "But to suggest somehow we can parse down the words of shorthand, text actual conversations like they're some contract for a auto is simply not consistent with my or most people's use of text messaging".

Dramatic Video Captures Moment Towering Iceberg Splits from Greenland Glacier
It's a tabular iceberg, long and flat; in the video, you can also see tall, thin pinnacle icebergs crack off and flip over. Such events could help researchers understand how glaciers will respond to natural variability and human-induced changes.

Strzok appeared before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees Thursday, where he was grilled by lawmakers over anti-Trump text messages he sent to attorney Lisa Page. "No he won't. We'll stop it".

"At no time in any of these texts did those personal beliefs ever enter into the realm of any action I took", Strzok said. Strzok said, but was cut off by Gowdy. "But", he said, "the thought of exposing that information never crossed my mind".

"It's right on point", Nadler replied. In it, Strzok describes his reluctance to work on behalf of the special counsel, and that seemed to imply he didn't think there would be substantial findings of collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign team.

Strzok and Page briefly faded from the spotlight until the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General released a report in June about its internal investigation into the FBI's handling of the Clinton investigation. But the report said it found no evidence of political bias in the FBI's decision to not pursue criminal charges against Clinton.

In his opening statement, Strzok said he has never allowed personal opinions to infect his work, that he knew information during the campaign that had the potential to damage Trump but never contemplated leaking it and that the focus on him by Congress is misguided and plays into "our enemies' campaign to tear America apart".

"Mr. Strzok and others inside the Federal Bureau of Investigation and DOJ turned our system of justice on its head", he said.

Page, who has also been subpoenaed, is expected to speak to lawmakers at a private meeting Friday.
