Theresa May aims to boost US-UK relations during Donald Trump visit

Mr Trump addresses reporters on the White Hosue lawn before he board Air Force One on July 9 in Washington

In a list of "actions to take", the warning recommended that Americans, "Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent", "keep a low profile" and "be aware of your surroundings".

While Trump on Friday is having lunch with Prime Minister Theresa May at her Chequers country estate or sipping tea with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, tens of thousands of demonstrators - maybe more - are planning to gather in London's Trafalgar Square to protest the president and his policies.

However, despite the welcome from May, many Britons remain deeply opposed to Trump's visit.

Ian Blackford, the Scottish National Party's leader in the Westminster parliament, said he regretted that May's government would roll out the red carpet for Trump. We believe that this publicly-owned facility should not be used for Donald Trump's visit.

As well as in London, protests are expected to take place in Bristol, Newcastle, Leeds, Cambridge and Cardiff after Trump arrives here on Thursday.

The antipathy between Mr. Trump and segments of the British public started during the 2016 presidential campaign, when Mr. Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States.

Opposition MPS, backed by an online petition signed by almost 1.9 million people, called on May to cancel the state visit offered when she met Trump in Washington after his inauguration in January previous year.

China's Foreign Ministry later confirmed her departure , saying she left the country "by her own free will" for medical treatment. She took a Finnair flight from Beijing to Berlin at 11:00 local time (03:00 GMT) on Tuesday, a friend, Ye Du, told news agencies.

Trump postponed his trip several times as a petition to block him from entering the United Kingdom gained so many signatures that it was debated in parliament.

After a dinner for business leaders in Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, he will spent the night in the ambassador's residence in north London.

Mrs May will be looking to improve her often publicly strained relationship with the U.S. president as she pushes for a post-Brexit trade deal with America.

Evie is also excited to see the planned "Trump baby" blimp which is due to fly over London and Scotland when he visits.

While Mr Johnson may now be a backbencher, Mr Trump said he hoped he would still see the former foreign minister - another blow to the fragile position of Mrs May.

The two leaders will hold talks the following day at Chequers, the 16th-century manor house which is the prime minister's official country residence which will focus on Russian Federation, trade, Brexit and Middle East.

Along with trade and security links, Downing Street said key areas to be discussed between the two leaders included Russia, Brexit and the Middle East.
