Shridhar Chillal’s hand permanently disabled for not cutting nails for 66 years

Indian man with world’s longest fingernails set to cut them after 66 years

Now 82, Mr Chillal, from Pune, India, made a decision to cut his nails when a NY museum promised to "maintain them very nicely and for a lifetime".

I think we can all basically agree there is no better part of any given Guinness World Records book than the section about people with extreme body stuff going on.

The record holder, from Pune, India, stopped trimming his fingernails in 1952 after he was told off by a teacher for messing around with a friend and accidentally breaking the teacher's nail.

Mr Chillal, 82, was flown to NY by the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in Times Square for a special event during which his fingernails were cut.

"Ripley's is privileged to display this truly unique and one-of-a-kind exhibit".

Shridhar Chillal, an octogenarian from India with the world's longest fingernails measuring over 9 metres, is all set to finally cut his coiled appendages after 66 years at a ceremony in NY. Times Square, according to a media advisory.

Croatia become smallest nation to reach World Cup final since 1950
The victory improves Croatia's previous best showing at the World Cup , which ended in a 1998 semifinal loss to the host French. While England's top football players were on the pitch, its top golfers were sitting at home watching the game unfold.

Eighty-two-year-old Shridhar Chillal will finally be cutting the fingernails on his left hand after 66 years, as reported by Hindustan Times today, July 11. They flew Chillal from Pune to NY to cut his nails and memorialise them forever in the museum.

When asked by Guinness World Records in 2015 how his nails affect his life, Shridhar said they were extremely fragile and he needed to take care when sleeping.

Chillal attempted to cut his supersized nails with a manual clipper, but that didn't work. The doctor who performed the removal ultimately relied on a handheld power grinder to get the job done, in a process that took about twenty minutes.

No word on how Chillal is adapting to the lighter load on his left hand, but life just became easier for him in many ways.

He told HuffPost India back in 2016 that he had difficulty moving thanks to his mighty claws.
