Royal Family steps out for Prince Louis' christening

Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William leave the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital with their new baby boy in London

When the royal family arrived shortly before 4pm, Duchess Kate Middleton held a sleeping Louis close to her chest, his elaborate christening gown draped over her arms.

"I'm delighted and privileged to be christening Prince Louis today - a precious child made in God's image, just as we all are", Archbishop Justin Welby said on Twitter before the ceremony.

When Prince Louis is baptised on Monday at the Chapel Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to keep to convention.

The Duchess of Sussex is now in the middle of her first-ever diplomatic trip to Ireland with husband, Prince Harry, where it has been revealed she has been doing her makeup entirely herself. "Please join me in praying for him and his family on this special day".

Louis Arthur Charles weighed 8lb 7oz when he was born in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, on 23 April.

The Duchess of Cambridge who is on her six-month maternity, not to return to her royal duties until October was a vision in white for her youngest christening.

Her husband, Prince Harry also noticed his wife Meghan Markle smiling at the little child. The duchess wore a Ralph Lauren dress, a Stephen Jones hat, Manolo Blahnik shoes, as well as gloves and a clutch. She also wore her hair in a low chignon, topped with a white, flowered headpiece.

His eldest sibling Prince George, 4, clutched his dad Prince William's hand and had his trademark look of vague distaste on his face (god I love this kid) while sister Princess Charlotte, 3, looked mostly confused. Kate wore similar ensembles for George and Charlotte's christening's marking Louis' as the third time wearing the beloved designer.

Nothing gets past Princess Charlotte.
