Netanyahu May Offer Putin US Sanctions Relief for Ousting Iran From Syria

Israeli soldiers at an army base in the Golan Heights look out across the border with Syria

On June 24, Israel's military said it launched a Patriot missile at an incoming unmanned aerial vehicle, which turned away unharmed.

According to Netanyahu's office, the prime minister "made it clear that Israel will not tolerate a military presence by Iran or its proxies anywhere in Syria and that Syria must strictly abide by the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement".

"We are prepared for the possibility of Israeli sovereignty being violated as a result of the fighting in Syria", IDF Spokesperson Ronen Manelis said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage over the drone's incursion.

Israel seized a large swathe of the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed it, in a move never recognised by the global community.

"We scrambled four fighter jets that were on standby for similar missions as well as two attack helicopters", he said.

After it was shot by a US -supplied Patriot missile, drone fragments fell into the water.

DJI Mavic Pro 2 Makes First Appearance In The Wild!
The arms of this drone are also rounded rather than featuring sharp and defined edges as per the original model. Now a newly leaked picture seems to corroborate the story, with a drone bearing the name Mavic 2 on it.

The drone, which had also overflown Jordan and appeared to have been unarmed and designed for surveillance, was downed near the Sea of Galilee at the foothills of the Golan Heights, said Israeli military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Jonathan Conricus.

He said the UAV had been tracked long before it entered Israel, flying through both Jordanian and Syrian air space.

The military issued a statement warning that it "will not allow any violation of Israeli airspace and will act against any attempt to hurt its civilians".

Israeli Patriot missiles shot down a Syrian drone that infiltrated 10 kilometers into Israel's air space. It bombed Iranian targets in Syria in response to that incident.

"We know about your concerns, let's have a thorough talk about them", Putin told Netanyahu before reporters were asked to leave the room. In the past, Putin has turned a blind eye to Israeli strikes on Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria while making clear Russian Federation does not want Assad's rule endangered.

Israel has signalled openness to eventual ties with Assad, a tacit acknowledgement that he is re-consolidating power as he routs Syria's rebels.

Supposedly Israel waited 15 minutes before shooting it down, so they could check with the Russians, and make sure it wasn't theirs before shooting it down.
