Liverpool willing to smash transfer record to sign Paulo Dybala

Liverpool transfer news Barcelona Philippe Coutinho

With the Portuguese now set to take center stage in Turin, Liverpool may promise Dybala more of a starring role than what he would have at Juventus next season alongside Ronaldo.

Reports today claimed the Reds have opened talks with the Argentina international's representatives, with Liverpool willing to pay up to £80m for the forward.

Reports last week indicated that Liverpool would be interested in signing the 24-year-old, although not much has been reported since.

Dybala's Juve future is now up in the air following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

However, Futbol Mercado now say that the Reds are willing to pay around €90m for the Argentinian global.

And the bookies reckon Liverpool are the favourites to sign Dybala this summer, with Jurgen Klopp priced at 4/1 to sign the Juve star after receiving a flurry of bets this morning.

The report claims that following Argentina's World Cup exit, Dybala travelled to Cordoba but was not informed by Juventus about their plan to sign Ronaldo.

Dybala has already welcomed Ronaldo to the club with a post on Instagram on Tuesday evening.

Juve will need to offload one of their key players to accommodate Ronaldo's arrival, given that the 33-year-old has agreed a salary worth €30m (£26.4m) per season.

A host of names have been linked with a move to Anfield during this transfer window as the club attempt to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January for an estimated £142m, including Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Nabil Fekir.
