Kenedy ‘set to leave’ Chelsea for second Newcastle loan

Rafael Benitez manager of Newcastle United acknowledges the fans during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle United and Sunderland at St James Park

The Daily Mail now reports in its live blog (2:56pm, 10 July) that Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign the centre-forward, who only made a £17.5million move from Napoli to Sampdoria this summer.

Chelsea midfielder Kenedy is close to officially joining Newcastle United on a season-long loan after reportedly completing his medical. Kenedy joined Newcastle last January on a six-month loan deal and went on to star for the Magpies impressively.

Kenedy joined Chelsea almost three years ago from Brazilian side Fluminense, but has played just 27 times for the club.

During his spell at Newcastle last season, Kenedy scored two goals in 13 games from his left wing-back position. Kenedy will spend the 2018/19 campaign as a Newcastle player.

Antonio Conte's future will have a telling effect on Kenedy's next move.

But with Maurizio Sarri closing in on the job, decisions appear to be in the works at Stamford Bridge. A new manager would have ideas for him, but if he feels he could not fit into the new system as well, then a move could be on the cards.

The defender enjoyed a fantastic season in the Premier League recently and it's believed that a host of top-flight clubs have expressed an interest in signing him from Newcastle.
