Feds Say Mayor De Blasio Crossed Border Illegally

Crash following high speed chase of human smuggler

De Blasio charged the letter was an attempt by the Trump administration to deflect criticism of the separation policy, which has since been altered.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio violated immigration laws in the US and Mexico last month when he illegally crossed back-and-forth between the two nations, Customs and Border Protection alleges.

"De Blasio went to a holding facility for immigrant children but was denied entry".

A New York Police Department inspector reportedly responded that they had not and that they reached the location by coming from Mexico.

During Austin Mayor Steve Adler's visit to the border at the height of President Donald Trump's "zero tolerance" immigration policy, Adler reportedly illegally crossed the border, according to a report from Fox News.

De Blasio, a fierce critic of the Trump administration's immigration policies, went to the Texas border with about 20 other mayors from around the country on June 21.

Agents with the Weslaco Station saw a group of people who had previously been unable to enter the USA climbing a tree to enter the country through Custom and Border Protection's (CBP) Port of Entry in Progreso, the agency said in a Wednesday news release.

"The agent informed the group that they had illegally crossed the United States/Mexico Border at a place other than a designated port of entry and that this was a violation of federal law", the letter read. The New York Police Department runs de Blasio's security detail.

The agent then asked the group to remain in place while he contacted a supervisor and took them to an official crossing for an inspection per federal law, according to the letter.

"While we were there, we were told where the border line was and we respected it", said de Blasio.

They re-entered by vehicle through a port of entry about three hours later, the letter said. He then went to Mexico and crossed into the U.S.to get a view of the facility. How on earth are we not allowed to see what's happening to these children?

A spokesman for the Border Protection had no comment.

"Every country needs reasonable law enforcement on their borders. ICE is broken, it's divisive and it should be abolished", de Blasio tweeted.
