Tory vice chairs quit over Brexit

EPAAndrea Leadsom reportedly said she “hated” the plan but would support Mrs May

British Prime Minister Theresa May has been hit by more resignations over her Brexit policy, as two Conservative vice-chairs quit over their opposition to her plans for Britain's future relations with the EU.

Tories unhappy with the current Brexit plans need to accept the "harsh truth" that there's no other option, William Hague has said.

Appearing in the House of Commons just minutes later, a confident-sounding May defended her Brexit plan.

A plan agreed by May's Cabinet last week seeks to keep the United Kingdom and the European Union in a free-trade zone for goods, and commits Britain to maintaining the same rules as the bloc for goods and agricultural products.

The Sun, Britain's biggest-selling newspaper, said there had been "blunder after blunder" by May.

"The government now has a song to sing", he said. "Will she stick to her earlier words?"

Criticising Barack Obama in 2016 as a "part-Kenyan" with an "ancestral dislike" of Britain when the then-US president came out in support of Remain.

Brexit negotiations with Brussels are also expected to resume next Monday.

The broadsheet version of Die Welt says the government is "wobbling" after the departure of Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary.

And the obvious questions that follow are these: can she survive and, even if she does limp on, can she stitch together any sort of Brexit deal that can satisfy Brussels and get through parliament?

Davis himself expressed regret that Johnson had quit, and said it would be "wrong" for his departure to trigger a major rebellion.

Yaşar Güler appointed as Turkey's new Chief of Staff
In a speech on Saturday, Erdogan said he would tackle high-interest rates, inflation and a wide current account deficit. Erdogan appointed his son-in-law as Turkey's finance minister on Monday hours after taking his oath of office.

"I think it is right that the cabinet backs the prime minister and speaks with one voice and if people don't do that then they have to go", Justice Secretary David Gauke told BBC radio.

With less than nine months left until Britain is due to leave the bloc, May is sticking to her plan for a "business friendly" Brexit.

However the plans released on Friday were only a curtain-raiser ahead of tomorrow's White Paper and most European Union capitals say it largely amounts to cherry-picking elements of the Single Market.

When asked if Mrs May should be replaced, Mr Trump answered: "Well that's up to the people".

Theresa May has warned hardline Brexiters to fall into line or risk handing power to Jeremy Corbyn after Boris Johnson became the second cabinet minister to resign in 24 hours, claiming Britain was "headed for the status of colony". "But. who knows?", he added, wondering if Britain might reject the divorce.

Boris's resignation letter is scathing. We have to deliver Brexit or we will be punished at the polls at the next general election.

In his resignation letter, Johnson said: "On Friday, I acknowledged that my side of the argument were too few to prevail, and congratulated you on at least reaching a cabinet decision on the way forward".

Davis said his job required "an enthusiastic believer in your approach, and not merely a reluctant conscript". As it happens, she now has a battle not only to save the Brexit negotiations, but also her government from disintegrating, let alone her own premiership.

Brexit hardliners welcomed his move, with Conservative MP Peter Bone saying: "The PM's proposals for a Brexit in name only are not acceptable".

"It may resolve the dilemma the Prime Minister faces".
