Roger Federer vs Kevin Anderson, Wimbledon 2018

Roger Federer was shocked by Kevin Anderson at Wimbledon

According to ESPN, it was the deepest Federer went in Wimbledon since the 2009 final against Andy Roddick. The powerful Argentinian has won five of his 15 matches against Nadal but lost to the world number one at two of the last three slams.

South African Kevin Anderson, another member of the over-30s club, is in his first ever Wimbledonq quarter-finals, and to be fair hasn't taken too long to get there either, having been taken to four sets just twice.

Roger Federer of Switzerland wipes his face during his men's singles match against France's Adrian Mannarino, on day seven of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, in London, Monday July 9, 2018.

It will be Djokovic's first semi-final at a major since the 2016 French Open when he completed the career Grand Slam. I had moments where I was great, I felt like I was reading his serve, other moments where I don't know where the hell I was moving to.

Yet once he had ended Federer´s run of holding serve for 85 consecutive games - a streak dating back to last year´s semi-final - Anderson´s confidence soared. "I've been building in the last couple of weeks and my level of tennis is going up", he said.

The women's semi-finals are set for Thursday.

"I just kept on telling myself I have to continue believing".

Anderson needed four more booming serves to reach a first Wimbledon semi-final, and he found them. That's the mindset you need against someone like Roger.

Djokovic, seeded 12th, incurred a warning for throwing his racket and was clearly frustrated, complaining of "double standards" when Nishikori was not punished for a racket throw. Kei did the same in the fourth set but wasn't warned.

"The umpire said he didn't see".

'I don't think it really mattered, to be honest.

Djokovic had been yearning for a Centre Court date, after playing as many games on Court Two as the main show court beforehand in this tournament. I've played Gael a few times, this was the first time I was able to beat him.
