Samsung makes world's largest mobile factory in Noida

They will be face to face at a ceremony on Monday to mark the completion of Samsung's newest factory for smartphones in Noida, a planned city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

In front are open fields with grazing cattle, to the left are under-construction residential societies and to the right is its existing facilty - this where Samsung has set up what is the world's largest mobile factory.

The Noida plant was set up in 1996 and is the first of two manufacturing units in India for the company.

Samsung is also making India a strategic foothold for its expansion into the global mobile network market.

President and CEO of Samsung India, HC Hong, said that a bigger manufacturing plant would help the company cater to the growing demand for Samsung products across the country. In 1997, production commenced and the first television was rolled out.

Regarding the smartphone business in India, the second-biggest market after China, Koh told The Korea Herald, "Our performance in the market is recovering, and we will do better". Keep in mind that the 120 million means feature phones as well. Numerous software products designed for Samsung's smartphones in India are developed by these R&D teams.
