She raised her clinched fists and proclaimed "I'm walking!".

Maya Tisdale was born as a micro preemie weighing only 1 pound back in 2013.

Watch as this handsome little girl, Maya Tisdale, walks for the very first time. She was diagnosed with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy before her second birthday and typically relies on two canes to walk.

Despite needing a walker, the family said Maya continued to keep up with her older brothers and practiced her balance and other therapies on her own outside of the required therapies.

Mum, Ann Tisdale, posted the video to her Instagram page, which celebrates her daughter Maya and has an appropriate tagline of "Living life with CP like a boss".

First Thailand boys rescued two weeks after being trapped in cave
They are now expecting to be "preparing for the first and strongest of the team for the perilous underwater extraction". There are fears the rain may flow into the cave, potentially hampering rescue efforts.

Two months ago, Maya had major surgery on her spine in the hopes of giving her more control over her leg and back muscles. "I'm walking! Yes! I even took a big step".

"We're always trying to help her and she always says, 'No, I can do it!'" she said.

In May, she and her family traveled to St. Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri, where she underwent a surgical procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR).

Doctors told the family it could take six months to a year for Maya to be able to walk on her own after the surgery, but her mother captured the magical moment Maya began to walk on her own just seven weeks after the surgery, and the little girl couldn't believe it herself. "She loves sitting criss cross on the floor, walking with her canes, flexing her feet, wiggling her toes and most of all dancing". "But to just have those first steps and knowing that it's possible is so great for her and our family".

"Despite these challenges, Maya gives it her all every day".
