‘Drunk’ seagulls have been confusing the RSPCA in Somerset

In theory, they can drink the remaining alcoholic beverages throughout the South-West coast, which makes them too drunk to walk or even fly.

RSPCA vet David Couper, who has treated a number of gulls, said: "Sadly a few of the birds have died but majority have made good recoveries and have been released after a few days in our care". Either way, they're getting drunk - but it's not necessarily as fun as that sounds.

Speaking to Sky News a spokesperson for the RSPCA say the unusual cases have prompted concerns as they believe the scavengers could be getting intoxicated from brewing waste that is not properly sealed.

'It's very unusual. We had a couple of isolated cases a year ago, ' he said. "But this year there has been a spate of cases from east Devon, Dorset and Somerset".

'They looked bad. Some have been so poorly they've died.

"Possibly from being exposed to high temperatures after falling unconscious". Reportedly, some have died while others are ill and the rest are recovering the deadly hangover.

Pro-Leave Conservative MPs describe Theresa May's Brexit plan as the " worst of all worlds " in an 18-page letter. She will say: "Over that time, I have listened to every possible idea and every possible version of Brexit".

Another theory is that they could have eaten some grain from a nearby brewery.

According to the RSPCA, the calls began in late June and are still coming through, with the most recent occurring in Lyme Regis on Sunday.

"But it's odd because enquiries revealed these by-products should only have trace amounts of alcohol left after it's extracted".

A crew of six firefighters were called to rescue a seagull behaving very erratically on a roof but when they arrived it had already fallen off and was sitting shaking his head.

Don't worry, seagull. We've been there.
