The incident in question happened in 2000 during the Kokanee Summit, CBC reported.

According to the anonymous column, the encounter happened on August 3, 2000, while a reporter was covering the Kokanee Summit, a music festival, and Trudeau apologized the next day. Today, Rose Knight issued a statement revealing that she is the reporter from the accusation.

Trudeau is a prominent advocate for women's rights whose government is working on new legislation against workplace harassment.

A former co-worker remembers the reporter's account of the encounter. "I don't recall that the reporter was coming across as having been traumatized or distraught about it, but definitely that, whatever physical touch or whatever had occurred in that moment was definitely not welcome and definitely inappropriate". "She wasn't sure how she should proceed with it, because of course we're talking [about] somebody who was known to the Canadian community", Bourne said. You can read her full statement above. He said that if he did indeed apologise about the interaction - as the editorial says he did - then "it would have been because I sensed that she was not entirely comfortable with the interaction that we had".

"I remember that day in Creston well".

According to the National Post who spoke with two of the reporter's supervisors at the time, the female journalist wrote the editorial. Mr. Trudeau did apologize the next day.

"Beyond this statement, I will not be providing any further details or information".

USA border agents approached Canada fishermen in disputed waters
Global Affairs Canada distributed a brief statement saying it is investigating "these incidents that occurred in Canadian waters". US Border Patrol agents have been stopping and questioning Canadian fishermen in disputed waters about unauthorized immigrants.

"I don't want to speak for her, I don't want to presume how she feels now", Trudeau said.

"I enjoyed my career as a reporter, but it ended a long time ago". She said she avoided issuing any statement out of concern for her privacy and her family's privacy.

He said it is possible the person who made the allegation perceived the interaction differently.

Media outlets in Canada and overseas - including the Washington Post and Britain's The Times newspaper - have picked up the story in recent days, after the editorial resurfaced online.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a self-described feminist, is now fielding questions about what happened with a female reporter on a summer day in 2000. "I do not feel that I acted inappropriately in any way".

"I do not feel that I acted inappropriately in any way, but I respect the fact that someone else might have experienced that differently", Trudeau said.

The alleged incident reportedly took place at a music festival where money was being raised for the Avalanche Foundation, a charity Trudeau became involved with after his brother Michel died in an avalanche in 1998.
