Michael Jackson Musical Coming to Broadway

Rest in peace Jackson passed in 2009

Coming to Broadway: Michael Jackson's life is set to be turned into a musical written by two-time Pulitzer Prize victor Lynn Nottage.

The playwright Lynn Nottage, who has two Pulitzer Prizes, will write the book.

However, the Nottage project will be expected to voyage far from the traditional terrain of jukebox shows, and the land of Jackson impersonators, and delve deeper into Jackson's life. Tony Award victor and contemporary ballet superstar Christopher Wheeldon ("An American in Paris") will direct and choreograph the production.

There is already an accomplished team lined up to bring it to life as well: two-time Pulitzer Prize victor Lynn Nottage will write a book for the musical, which will incorporate Jackson's many hits.

AMD pokes fun at Intel's Core i7-8086K with new giveaway
Celebrating the past is neat, but here at AMD we are focused on the future and the next 40 years of high-performance computing. Why it matters: AMD is essentially trolling Intel here as it is only offering 40 contest winners the chance to participate.

The Broadway musical marks a new type of stage venture for the Jackson estate, which previously sanctioned two Cirque du Soleil shows, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour and Michael Jackson: One. The score will draw on Jackson's catalogue - a list of pop favorites that includes "Thriller", "Smooth Criminal", "Beat It", and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough".

Wheeldon, a resident choreographer of the New York City Ballet, was the director-choreographer of An American in Paris on Broadway.

This won't be the first time that Jackson's music has been featured in a stage production - Thriller Live opened in London's West End in January 2009.
