Giuliani doubts Trump knew about Roger Stone's meeting with Russian

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump's longtime adviser Roger Stone had an undisclosed meeting with a Russian man offering to sell dirt on the then-presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Both former campaign aides told the newspaper they did not bring up the meeting during their testimony before the House Intelligence Committee because they forgot about the incident. The meeting was with a man named Henry Greenberg, and happened at the request of former Trump campaign communications official Michael Caputo, who met Greenberg through a Russian business partner.

"You don't understand Donald Trump", Stone said he told Greenberg in declining the offer. In a new report out Sunday, the Washington Post found that in May 2016, well into the presidential campaign, Stone met with a man who had a "viscous Russian accent". "Similarly, Michael Caputo's testimony omitted mention of this interaction with a Russian offering dirt on Hillary Clinton, something which could not plausibly have escaped his recollection", Schiff said in a statement. Stone, who was sacked from the Trump campaign in 2015, has repeatedly denied colluding with the Russians.

Stone told The Post that he did disclose the meeting either, calling the meeting unimportant "due diligence" that would have been "political malpractice" not to explore.

On Sunday, independent journalist Seth Abramson suggested that the presence of the mysterious Ukrainian indicates a link to former Trump Campaign Chair Paul Manafort, who as The Inquisitr has reported has been indicted by Russian Federation investigation Special Counsel Robert Mueller on numerous counts, including conspiracy against the United States, and who was jailed on Friday in connection with a witness tampering charge.

"The Russian way", Caputo said. "I don't think a failure of memory constitutes a perjury".

NBA Officials Reportedly Want To Change Draft Eligibility Rules By 2021
There may be some changes coming that will impact the "one-and-done" rule for National Basketball Association draft eligibility. The issue will be discussed further during the NBA's meetings at the Las Vegas Summer League, according to ESPN .

The Post obtained a text message of Caputo's conversation with Stone after the meeting.

Caputo said he hired investigators using money from his legal defense fund to dig into Greenberg's background and has produced a "dossier" with the findings, which Stone endorses. "Stone and to infiltrate and compromise the Trump effort", his lawyer, Grant J. Smith, wrote.

"They knew more than I did, which set off alarms".

This file photo taken on June 19, 2013 shows then FBI Director Robert Mueller arriving to testify before the US Senate Judiciary Committee on oversight during a hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

Lawyers for Stone suggest that based on the information of the meeting, "these matters should be investigated to ascertain the facts surrounding the 2016 election and the role of the Federal Bureau of Investigation". The Post also reported in November that at least 20 known meetings took place between Trump officials and Russians during the campaign, and the two camps interacted at least 32 times during the campaign. Campaigns are approached constantly by people trying to sell dirt.
