Dutch 'Pink Pop' festival: One dead in bus hit-and-run

At least one person is confirmed to have died while three others have been critically injured following an incident at the Netherlands' PinkPop Festival which saw a vehicle drive into a crowd of people on Monday morning.

The driver and the vehicle, described as a white Fiat Doblo van, are being hunted by police.

"The van involved is still being sought", police said on Twitter.

Officers said it was not clear whether the van driver, who later turned himself in to the police, had hit the group at the Pinkpop event intentionally or by accident.

The incident took place at the "Pink Pop" concert, a popular festival being held in Limburg province in the south of the Netherlands.

An alert sent to mobile phones in the area warned people to look out for a Fiat Doblo with the number 257 on its number plate.

A police statement said the street where the incident took place had been closed for investigation.

RTL news reported that a trauma helicopter, ambulances and a heavy police presence were at the scene.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the organisers of PinkPop said they were "deeply shocked" at the incident.
