Apple reportedly limits developer access to users' contacts

Performance in iOS 12 Everything you need to know

On both Apple's iOS and Google's Android, the largest smartphone operating systems, the tactic is sometimes used to juice growth and make money.

In Apple's newly-updated App Store Review Guidelines, Apple makes a few mentions about how user data, including contacts, should be treated by the third-party app developers.

Contact list data can be particularly valuable for companies because it allows them to gather information not only on the person who is using the app but also about all of their friends.

Onavo Protect is still listed on the App Store as of late Tuesday evening, but if it disappears it could be a sign that the Apple-Facebook standoff that has always been brewing is heating up. The new guidelines were made public during the Worldwide Developers' Conference for apps available in the App Store, which is the only way to distribute an app on iOS.

Last week, Apple banned iOS apps from making contact with people using information collected through users' contacts or photos unless there's consent from users.

Notably, Apple CEO Tim Cook has been vocal about criticising the social media platform for selling user data to third parties for research goal without seeking user consent. Generally, Apple gets 30 percent of any App Store purchase (save subscriptions - those are 15 percent), but Valve wouldn't necessarily be giving Apple a 30 percent cut of each game sold. This conflict made it hard to bring up Control Center while in any app.

The fatty and carb-filled foods, such as hot chips, were a top choice, with people willing to pay more for the delicious treat. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate mostly woody plants and animal meat, the researchers said.

Besides, Apple TV owners will be able to keep track of all the latest actions from this year's football event on FOX NOW in the US.

Apple has criticised the social network for that lapse and other missteps, while announcing new privacy updates to boost its reputation for safeguarding user data.

To help boost this growing sector even further, Apple continues to accelerate its plans to support coding education via its Swift software.

Considering how Onavo works, it comes as no surprise that the developer is in complete violation against Apple's new guidelines. This will only be allowed if users have given consent.

And while Apple may finally be doing something about it now, it can not do anything about the millions of data points it has already given away.

Similarly, apps involved in initial coin offerings, bitcoin futures trading, or other cryptocurrency securities trading need to be from the banks, firms, or other approved financial institutions.
