Jaguar E-Pace gets an entry-level petrol engine and smart suspension

Jaguar E-Pace

There's also a new Smart Settings feature that detects the driver based on their key fob and smartphone and adjusts the seat, climate control, and infotainment system accordingly.

According to Jaguar, the system learns about driver patterns based on time, location and weather-based behaviour patterns, which means the auto will eventually be able to pre-heat the seats if it thinks the driver is about to commute and it's chilly outside - at least, that's the example provided.

Under the skin, the E-Pace has been treated to the same Adaptive Dynamics system offered on the rest of the Jaguar range.

But the update of which Jaguar seems most proud is the addition of its "Smart Settings" tech, which debuted on the all-electric I-Pace. Up to eight profiles can be set up on the E-Pace using Smart Settings.

Over time, this will retain a driver's preferred requirements using algorithms based on time, location, weather and behaviour patterns.

Saudi Arabia says another Houthi missile intercepted
The conflict has left almost 10,000 people dead in Yemen, already the Arab world's poorest country. The coalition aims to restore the government of self-exiled President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

Launched spectacularly with the world's furthest barrel roll by a production vehicle, E-PACE has already achieved strong sales in a highly competitive segment and won a string of awards, including being named as BBC TopGear Magazine's 2017 "Crossover of the Year". You can get Smart Settings as part of the so-called Connect Pro Pack, which also brings a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, real-time traffic and parking availability info. The intelligent set-up delivers faster responses and a dedicated off-road tune. It responds to the driver's input and road surface changes to provide better control and minimise body roll.

The new option is a 2.0 litre Ingenium four-pot with 197bhp, enough for a 7.7 sprint to 62mph and official economy of 34.4mpg.

All engines in the range are equipped with particulate filters to make them cleaner, which can trap ultra-fine particulates as the exhaust gases pass through. In a petrol engine, under normal driving conditions, the trapped soot will be oxidised into Carbon dioxide and the filter regenerated whenever the driver lifts off the accelerator.

Although adaptive suspension isn't new to Jaguar, it wasn't available with the E-Pace when it was launched previous year.
