Trump says Trudeau's G7 comments will cost Canadians a lot of money

Donald Trump and Justin Trudeau

PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, "US Tariffs were kind of insulting" and he "will not be pushed around".

"My mission was to send a strong signal of strength".

Navarro made his apology on Tuesday while speaking at the Wall Street Journal's CFO conference, an annual meeting of the newspaper's editors and chief financial officers from some of the world's most influential companies.

"I used language that was inappropriate, and basically lost the power of that message", Navarro said.

During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Navarro lashed out at Trudeau after he argued that Trump is making a mistake by placing tariffs on Canadian steel.

"When I got on to the plane, I think that Justin probably didn't know that Air Force One has about 20 televisions", Trump said, referring to statements that Trudeau made in a news conference shortly after the G-7 summit ended.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Sunday accused Canadian Prime Minister of "attacking" President Donald Trump after Canada's leader announced reciprocal tariffs on the US and asserting his nation would not be 'pushed around.' Zachary Goelman reports.

Trump was flying to Singapore for his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the time.

"That's going to cost a lot of money for the people of Canada; he learned", Trump said wagging his finger. Kudlow explained on CNN that the administration was lashing out at Trudeau to show Kim that Trump was not weak. Some of Trump's aides also lashed out at the Canadian prime minister. "I own that. That was my mistake, my words". "Using that type of language is not professional, it's not called for, and I tell you, I was deeply disappointed to see this lack of professionalism on his part".

On Tuesday, Trump said: "We have a big trade deficit with Canada.it's close to US$100 billion a year deal loss".

"Sorry, we can not let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on trade any more".

Canada is the U.S.'s largest trading partner, and the US economy would struggle to make up for Canada's absence, Heyman noted.

"Based on Justin's false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!" the president tweeted. "Look, countries can not continue to take advantage of us on trade".

Heyman added he's "of course ... embarrassed" about Trump's behavior during the G-7 meeting, arguing the United States "was doing everything it could do to disrupt this meeting".
