Trump pledges to punish 'the people of Canada'

In a tweet posted Saturday evening, Trump said his decision to rescind support for the statement was based on "false statements" made by Trudeau during a press conference he gave, as well as "the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs" on us companies.

The economic summit, attended by Trump, Trudeau and other leaders of the Group of Seven advanced nations, concluded Saturday with Trump leaving early en route to Singapore.

"That co-operation to reduce costs, find efficiencies and open up trading within our own region will benefit not just small and medium enterprises, but the region overall", Bell said.

The president has imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Europe, Canada and Mexico, fueling fears of a trade war as a number of countries mull retaliatory measures.

Donald Trump's trade adviser has labelled Canadian premier Justin Trudeau a back-stabber unworthy of the United States president's time after the acrimonious end to the G7 summit.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro apologized Tuesday for saying that there was a "special place in hell" for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"We finished the meeting, really everybody was happy, and I agreed to sign something", Mr Trump said.

"Obviously we support the continuing efforts by the president on North Korea, we look forward to looking at the details of the agreement", Trudeau said Tuesday as he arrived on Parliament Hill for his weekly cabinet meeting.

Trump advisers also took up the attack in appearances on Sunday's news shows, leveling more withering and unprecedented criticism against Trudeau, branding him a back-stabber unworthy of Trump's time.

Tweeting from Singapore where he's scheduled to hold a nuclear summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, Trump wrote: "Sorry, we can not let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on trade anymore".

Trump, who had criticised Trudeau after the G7 meeting in Canada on the weekend, said the United States had a big trade deficit with Canada, and "a little balance" was needed.

Mr Trump also explained the photo that went viral from the G-7 summit.

Trudeau said it was "inconceivable" that the U.S could see Canada - one of its closest allies and a longtime supplier of steel and other metals - as a national security threat.

Trudeau, who had said at the news conference that Canada would retaliate for new USA tariffs, didn't respond to questions about Trump when the prime minister arrived at a Quebec City hotel Sunday for meetings with other world leaders.

You said that that came from Air Force One. European Council President Donald Tusk tweeted: "There is a special place in heaven" for Trudeau.
