Raptors assistant Nurse promoted to head coach

On Tuesday, reports surfaced announcing the Raptors had settled on assistant coach Nick Nurse as their next head man.

Nurse, a long-time assistant under Casey, was one of the first people interviewed by president Masai Ujiri and general manager Bobby Webster and was the leading candidate throughout much of the hiring process.

Nurse succeeds Dwane Casey, who raised expectations even higher than he could meet and got hired. He was also named D-League Coach of the Year in 2011.

This past season he is credited with playing a major role in overhauling the team's offence, finding ways to move the ball more and manufacture three-point shot opportunities.
