Atletico Madrid reach agreement with Monaco to sign Thomas Lemar

Antoine Griezmann Atletico Madrid 2017-18

Reports Saturday suggested France coach Didier Deschamps had told Griezmann and Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar to clarify their futures by the end of the week.

Earlier on Tuesday, Griezmann said he has made a decision on his future but refused to clarify where he will play next season when speaking to reporters at France's World Cup camp in Russian Federation.

Griezmann, who has been strongly linked with Barcelona, said on Tuesday that he has made a decision on his future but will only reveal it after France's World Cup campaign. L'Equipe stated that the deal is in place and only lacking the final fine points on the contract with Lemar expected to set Atlético back a fee in the region of 90 million euros.

The Atletico Madrid ace has always been linked with a big-money move to Camp Nou and has resolved to clarify his club future this week.

A statement on Atletico's website confirmed the clubs will work over the next few days to complete the transfer.

President offers to resign on one condition after player crisis — Sporting Lisbon
Arsenal has been handed a major boost in the pursuit of Sporting Lisbon star Gelson Martins , after terminating his contract. Their decision followed that of Daniel Podence and Rui Patricio, who quit the club earlier this month.

According to Marca, Griezmann's willingness to stay was contingent on Lemar's arrival - and that move now only awaits a medical and the signing of paperwork.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to trigger Griezmann's €100m (£88m) release clause.

However, those figures will return to the previous numbers next month.

Griezmann is part of the France squad for this summer's World Cup squad and will be a key part of the team going into the tournament, in which they are one of the favourites.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has declared he expects Antoine Griezmann to stay put this summer.
