Montauk Observatory Brings Space Station Commander to East Hampton

The Soyuz rocket with Soyuz MS-09 encapsulated is rolled to Pad 1/5 at Baikonur Cosmodrome

The NASA live stream comes days after the USA space agency broadcasted the return of Expedition 55 Commander Anton Shkaplerov, flight engineer Scott Tingle and Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency touching back on Earth.

The annual United States investment in the space lab ranges from $3 to $4 billion.

American, German and Russian astronauts were on board.

A faster 4-orbit/6-hour or a 2-orbit/3-hour journey is usually possible, but space station positioning requirements to ensure a daytime landing for the departing Soyuz MS-07 crew earlier in the week prevented the possibility of a quicker trip for the new crew, SpaceFlight.com reported.

Even with a number of private companies making their mark in space, a majority of Americans (65 percent) say that NASA should still play a significant role in exploring space.

Many Americans are confident private space companies will be profitable, but are more skeptical they will keep space clean. Some 29% of this group says they would go so that they can see the view of Earth from space, while 20% want to "learn more about the world".

This issue is very relevant due to the emergence of private companies, including Elon Musk's SpaceX, that are venturing out in space. Only 27 percent of baby boomers are interested in space tourism, but as much as 63 percent of millennials would like to travel into space as tourists. Conducting research to increase knowledge of space is a top priority for 47 percent of Americans, but 62 percent think monitoring objects that could hit Earth is a top priority.

Forty-one percent of Americans think developing technologies that could be adapted for other uses to be important, but of lower priority.
