Morgan Freeman apologises after harassment accusations

Of the 16 people who spoke to CNN, eight said Freeman had sexually harassed them.

The women accusing Freeman have worked with the now 80-year-old actor both on movie sets and at his production company Revelations Entertainment.

From production assistants to staff at Revelations Entertainment, CNN got in touch with many women associated with Morgan Freeman in a professional capacity and a lot of them have described his behaviour as inappropriate.

Update, 12:45 p.m. ET: Freeman has issued a statement to BuzzFeed saying he "apologizes to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected" by his alleged behavior.

In an interview of Freeman being interviewed by Martin, the actor said, "You've got magic written all over you, child" while promoting the film Now You See Me.

In a statement, Freeman apologised to "anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected". Actor Alan Arkin, one of Freeman's co-stars in the film, reportedly then stepped and told Freeman to stop.

A CNN reporter Chloe Melas also reported stories of inappropriate behaviour.

Two, including the production assistant on "Going in Style" whose skirt he allegedly attempted to lift, said Freeman subjected them to unwanted touching.

The Screen Actors Guild has said that it is "reviewing" a lifetime achievement award it gave Morgan Freeman, following multiple allegations of sexual harassment aimed at the veteran actor.

The accounts go on to include several mentions of "unsolicited touching", ogling, asking women to "twirl" and, in one case, Freeman directly asking a female employee, while looking her "up and down", "How do you feel about sexual harassment?"

"He did comment on our bodies", the second accuser told CNN.

Others have said that Freeman had a reputation for inappropriate remarks and behaviour around women.

Another passage detailed a different woman's experience: "If I ever passed him he would stare at me in an awkward way, would look me up and down, sometimes stopping and just staring".
