Aston Villa's John Terry seeks contract excluding him from Chelsea games?

John Terry would not be permitted to have any clause in a new contract with Aston Villa which would formally allow him to miss games against Chelsea.

However, questions marks remain over the Englishman's future.

Why not play against Chelsea?

'You are going to have to see everybody's last drop of sweat.

Terry's contract with the club is sent to end this summer but has the opportunity to extend his stay by an extra 12 months if he chooses.

'I really genuinely hope he triggers it. I do believe the supporters have enjoyed seeing what we have got at the moment.

Well, we'll not pick him against Chelsea if that's what he wants.

So what will Terry do if Villa got promoted?

Villa are hoping to agree a new deal with Terry, to keep him at the club for the long-term.

In subsequent dialogue with the Premier League, Aston Villa insisted that Bruce's comment was made in jest and denied any suggestion that a clause exempting Terry from facing Chelsea would be put into any extension that he might sign.

Fulham finished five points above fourth-placed Villa and went unbeaten for 23 games in their push for automatic promotion.

Football fans are in disbelief that Terry would even consider signing such a contract.

Ironically, despite his recent goalscoring form, one of the few clubs you can surely rule Mitro out of playing for next season, is Newcastle.

Steve Bruce went on to have some very kind words about Terry.

"He has been one of the great defenders of our country". "He is a great leader of men, which we don't produce many of any more". The 57-year-old, who is chasing a fifth promotion to the top flight, deserves a break in more ways than one, and few outside Fulham will begrudge him if he heads off on holiday as a Premier League manager once again.

"Obviously I don't train against all the other [players] every day of the week, but just his attitude, his work rate, everything he puts into training, on the pitch and in the gym is just incredible", Ream said. Not just to win a game on a Saturday, but his overall.and he has never let us down.
