Meanwhile, in Bihar, former deputy minister and Lalu Yadav's youngest son Tejashwi Yadav said that he will be meeting the Governor of Bihar to form the government as RJD was the single largest party. "We would be holding a one-day dharna tomorrow against the murder of democracy in Karnataka".

Kavlekar said the Goa Governor should follow the example set by her Karnataka counterpart and invite the single-largest party to form the government and thus "correct her mistake of March 12, 2017".

The BJP, which emerged as the single-largest party with 104 seats in the 222-member Karnataka Assembly, was invited by the Governor despite the JD (S)-Congress combine staking claim by citing the support of 117 MLAs. "I will meet Honourable Governor of Bihar along with MLAs as we are single largest party of Bihar", he said.

The Congress won 17 seats in the 40-member Goa assembly and emerged as the largest party in Goa elections in March 2017, falling short of the majority figure by four seats. The development came a day after the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala invited BJP's Yeddyurappa to form government in the state. Along with one independent MLA, the BJP has staked the claim at forming the government.

Goa Congress Legislature Party chief Chandrakant Kavlekar said the party would stake claim on Friday by submitting to Governor Mridula Sinha a formal letter containing signatures of all 16 party MLAs. The BJP, which got 14 seats, formed the government in alliance with the Goa Forward Party and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), which had won three seats each. In July 2017, JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar broke the alliance and tied up with the BJP to continue as chief minister. But the BJP was called in by Governor Mridula Sinha on the basis on the numbers the party claimed to have cobbled together with the help of post-poll alliances.

Addressing press conference, Yadav said that they will demand the dissolution of current government and they be invited to form the government.

He claimed that organisations like the Election Commission and CBI are being blackmailed into doing the BJP's bidding and questioned how BS Yeddyurappa asked for 7 days to prove a government, but ended up getting 15 days instead. "The governor should invite us to form the government in Goa as per the precedent set by her Karnataka counterpart". "[Party President] Amit Shah has only one formula - horse trading, or using central agencies against MLAs of other parties", Yadav said. "If we aren't united today then it was Bihar yesterday, Karnataka today, can be MP or Rajasthan tomorrow".

The Goa Congress said by the same count, it should be given power in the state.

Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leaders also staged a protest against Yeddyurappa's swearing-in as the Karnataka chief minister, terming it unconstitutional.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala has given the BJP an unusual 15 days to prove its majority.

Former Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma have also sought appointments with the governors of their states on Friday.
