A massive dust storm hit Delhi in the early hours on Wednesday, 16 May, as per a DNA report. The police received almost 60 calls related to uprooted trees, fallen electricity polls and wall collapses across the region. The India Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning today, stating that thunderstorm with light rain is expected to hit over and adjoining areas of Jind, Rohtak, Panipat, Alwar, Bagpat, Meerut and Aligarh during the next two hours, that is between 9-11 am, news agency ANI reported.

Wednesday's storm comes days after the heavy winds and rain killed over 75 people across Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi-NCR region. It had also said that parts of Rajasthan could experience dust storms, and isolated areas of West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and most of Northeast India can also expect thunderstorms and strong winds. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the IMD had predicted that the wind speeds could reach approximately 74 km per hour.
