Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano to be suspended for 80 games for positive drug test

Cano tested positive for the diuretic Furosemide, which is often used to help mask banned substances in urine tests, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

Mariners' star Robinson Cano has been suspended 80 games for violating baseball's joint drug agreement.

Canó's 80-game suspension is effective immediately.

The news was initially reported by multiple reporters out of the Dominican Republic, where Robinson Cano was from.

The news comes on the heals of the Mariners placing Cano on the 10-day disabled list after fracturing his right hand over the weekend.
