Nawaz Sharif Says Pakistani Establishment Delaying 26/11 Trial

"Pakistan has tried to cooperate with India in the case from the start".

Khan's statement seems to have come in reference to the interview given by Sharif to Pakistan's news daily Dawn in which he was quoted as saying, "Militant organisations are active". Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? "Why can't we complete the trial".

"Kasab was hanged in such haste, so that the Mumbai attacks could be used as a tool for Pakistan bashing across the world on political basis", he said. India's position has been that the mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack operated from Pakistan.

"He has spoken against Pakistan and must be punished for this". Nawaz is now ousted from the post of Prime Minister after Pakistan's apex court disqualified him from holding public office on charges of corruption.

The much read Ummat Newspaper accused him of revealing state secrets and called for his punishment.

Another PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said that Sharif should not have issued such a statement.

His remarks were played up by the Indian media as an admission of Pakistan's involvement in the terrorist attacks. "Nawaz speaking Modi's language against Pakistan State simply to protect his ill-gotten Rs 300 billion stashed in his son's companies overseas". Comparing income tax cases against former finance minister P. Chidambaram with the corruption charges against Sharif, she said in a press conference in Delhi Sunday: "In India, for the Congress party, this is the Nawaz Sharif moment".

Reacting to Sharif's remarks, Nisar, under whose watch the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was investigating the Mumbai attacks, said the Indian government was to blame for the hold-up in the Mumbai attacks trial, the Dawn reported.

The PML-N leader was questioning why the trial into the Mumbai attacks was stalled at a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court. The hard reality is that while he was aware of the conspiracy behind the attacks, he made no efforts for completion of 26/11-related cases in Pakistan during his tenure later as Prime Minister.

On November 26, 2008, 10 Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists had sailed into Mumbai from Karachi and carried out coordinated attacks in different parts of the city, killing about 166 people and injuring over 600 others.
