Bodies of man and boy recovered from Offaly plane crash

A man and a seven-year-old boy have been critically injured following a plane crash in Co Offaly.

The cause of the crash remains unknown and an investigation is underway.

The crash happened shortly after 2.30pm.

According to The Journal, the aircraft had left Clonbullogue Airfield earlier this afternoon, carrying 16 parachutists who were making the jump from the plane to land.

There were two people on board, the pilot and the seven-year-old boy. When it got near tree line I could see the tail move a bit.

Gardaí have cordoned off the site as investigators from the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) have arrived at the scene, which is in remote bogland, a number of kilometres from the parachute club.

"It's a great shock to hear of an accident like that happening".

It crashed near the Irish Parachutists Club in County Offaly, Ireland.
