Another Divisive Element of James Comey's Latest Interview? His Boots

Trump renews blasting Comey 'lies' amid interview, book release

Trump's Sunday tweetstorm came before Comey appeared on ABC to tout his new book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership," which will be published Tuesday.

President Donald Trump's Twitter tirade against former FBI Director James Comey continued apace Monday morning.

'I wanted a woman president really badly, and I supported Hillary Clinton, ' she told ABC's George Stephanopoulos in a brief clip concluded in the prime-time piece on her husband's first interview since President Trump fired him.

Comey also discussed the first time he met the newly elected Trump in person in January 2017 to talk about the allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 USA election.

Trump fired Comey in May 2017 and said Sunday that he "never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty". Trump called Comey an "untruthful slime ball" in a tweet and wrote that "it was my great honor to fire" him.

For many Women's Marchers and other passionate Trump critics, there's a lot to relate to in the public emoting of former FBI Director James Comey.

In an excerpt shown Saturday, Comey says his belief that Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 presidential election was a factor in his decision to disclose the investigation into her emails. But he also suggests a case needs to actually be made for impeachment, that it isn't a tidy solution to one's concerns about Trump, and that in fact there's a healthier, more democratic remedy to such issues in the form of an election every four years.

I think we owe it to each other to get off the couch and think about what unites us.

"'That can't happen, ' I said".

Theresa May BLASTS Assad and LAUNCHES airstrikes in SYRIA
"We have. evidence that proves Britain was directly involved in organizing this provocation", he said , reports BBC. A YouGov poll published on Thursday showed just one in five British voters supported a missile strike on Syria.

Yet Comey said he hopes Trump will not be impeached and removed from office. "I think he's morally unfit to be president", he said.

Referring to what Trump called a premature Clinton exoneration, Comey said that after nine or 10 months he had a "clear picture" of the investigation into Clinton's email practices and it's common to draft statements before a probe is complete.

Comey told Stephanopoulos, "The deputy attorney general, in my view, had acted dishonorably by putting out this pretext about why I was sacked".

Impeaching the president, Comey believes, would be a quick fix to a larger problem: "You can not have, as president of the United States, someone who does not reflect the values that I believe Republicans treasure and Democrats treasure and Independents treasure", Comey said.

"You would think that in private, talking to the Federal Bureau of Investigation director, whose job it is to thwart Russian attacks, you might acknowledge that this enemy of ours is an enemy of ours", Comey said.

Several of the episodes he describes in detail, including a private conversation about former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, are central to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference and his recollections are presumably valuable for prosecutors examining whether the president's actions constitute an obstruction of justice.

"The challenge of this president is that he will stain everyone around him", he told Stephanopoulos. The book tour is expected to go on for at least five weeks, and will likely "needle and gall President Trump amid global, legal and political crises".

In July of 2016, Comey announced that he wasn't recommending charges against Clinton, but stated that Clinton and her aides were "extremely careless" in their handling of classified information.
