Protesters led by opposition lawmaker Nikol Pashinian broke into the building Saturday and tried to get on the air but failed and retreated shortly afterward.

Armenia's former president Serzh Sargsyan was nominated today for the post of prime minister, a spokesman for Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov said.

Pashinyan on Sunday had called on people to block Yerevan's bridges, streets, and subway on Monday.

Some built barricades using cast-iron benches and metal trash cans. Police urged protesters not to violate public order.
