Salmonella outbreak forces recall of 207 million eggs in US

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said to date 22 people have been sickened by the eggs

It can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain among healthy people, but can lead to fatal infections among children younger than 5, adults older than 65 and those with weak immune systems.

Over 3 million egg-laying hens reside at Rose Acre's North Carolina farm, which produces 2.3 million eggs per day.

The eggs originated from Rose Acre's production farm in Hyde County, North Carolina.

The farm distributed the eggs to retailers and restaurants in Colorado, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia.

Check your eggs, as more than 200 million are being recalled because of potential contamination of salmonella.

Mourinho slams United as they hand title to City
Kompany was on hand in the wake of United handing the title to City to offer his take on Pep Guardiola's side securing glory. Apparently club superstars like Claudio Bravo and Phil Foden would be playing in City's final game of the season as well.

Consumers are urged to check their egg cartons against the recalled batches listed online. So far, at least 22 illnesses related to the contaminated eggs have been reported, according to the FDA. The affected eggs should be labelled with plant number P-1065, with a packaging date of 011 through 102 printed on the packaging.

Salmonella infections sicken 1.2 million people in the United States every year, leading to 23,000 hospitalizations and 450 deaths. Affected eggs were sold under several different brands, which includes Great Value, Nelms, Sunshine Farms, Country Daybreak, Coburn Farms, Food Lion, Glenview and to restaurants. Some were reportedly sold at Walmart and Food Lion stores. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the agencys testing connected the recalled eggs to the people who got sick.

However, some cases turn so severe that patients need to be hospitalized.

Salmonella infection usually happens due to the consumption of raw or undercooked meat, poultry, eggs, egg products, seafood or fruits, and vegetables (if washed during processing with water contaminated with salmonella).

The eggs are from a farm in Carolina that distributes to states such as NY and some of the eggs may be responsible for a salmonella outbreak.
