Nintendo Switch Sega Ages collection: 15+ games, 5 named so far

Zelda Propaganda by Fernando Reza

During a press conference this week, Sega announced its plans to bring some of its classic titles to Nintendo's newest gaming console.

But there's a good possibility that once the initial batch of 15 games is released, Sega could expand upon the collection - and in better ways than you could possibly imagine.

This is quite interesting as according to the magazine Nintendo's next Pokemon title for the Switch will have some new mechanics, this raises the question at what classic mechanics will be changed and what will be added in replacement.

Sega Ages was a series of retro compilations released on the Sega Saturn back in mid-90s. Plus Genesis versions of Thunder Force IV, Sonic the Hedgehod, and the original arcade version of Gain Ground.

Sega Ages, a brand of Sega used for the company's compilation of classic titles, will make their Nintendo Switch debut by releasing Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Thunder Force IV, and Ground Gain on Nintendo's console. Additionally, PC, Xbox One and PS4 players will get the chance to play Shenmeu I & II, which were originally released on the Sega Dreamcast console.

Other details that came out of the talk include SEGA's decision to continue expanding the Classic releases, following the last wave of 3D games. During the Sega Fes event in Japan, the publisher announced Sega Ages, a lineup of retro Sega games that are coming to North America, Europe, and Japan later this year. As you would expect from the retro geniuses at M2, these games will stay true to their original forms while incorporating new features that bring a refreshing twist to these classic titles' gameplay.
