Apple will repair Series 2 watch batteries for free

According to a report from MacRumors, Apple Retail Stores and Authorized Retailers were informed of the policy change on Friday through the company's internal portal.

Apple Watch users have for years complained of expanded, or swollen, batteries across multiple device generations.

Apple released the Apple Watch Series 2 in September of 2016, so the oldest models at this point are around 19 months old.

In a rumoured, decidedly un-Apple move, it looks like the Big A could be about to let third-party developers design faces for the Apple Watch. What are your thoughts on Apple offering three-year of fix program for the Series 2 in 42mm size?

Only 42mm-sized models are eligible for free repairs, which includes the Sport, Edition, Hermès, and Nike+ variants.

The new fix program mirrors a warranty update for first-generation Apple Watch models implemented past year.
