Trump lashes out at ex-FBI chief

Trump, who criticized Comey repeatedly before and after he fired him, denounced him on Twitter on Friday: "James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR", he said.

Donald Trump asked James Comey to investigate the allegation that Vladimir Putin possessed a tape of the mogul engaging in erotic, urine-related activities on a hotel bed in Moscow - because he wanted to convince his wife that it wasn't true.

"I never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty". With each Stephanopoulos question, they cut back to Comey and the drama builds as we want to know what Comey's responses are going to be.

Many are debating just how much credence to give to this most explosive and lurid of details. Comey has said that some of the memos he wrote after meeting with Trump included classified material but that the one he passed to a friend did not.

One week after the inauguration, Trump reportedly invited Comey to have dinner with him in the Green Room.

That investigation has been gathering momentum in recent weeks, especially with the stunning search of the hotel room and office of Trump's personal attorney in NY this week. Until he makes a convincing case about it, a large number of Democrats will also continue to look at him with skepticism. His reaction to all this (amid American strikes on the Assad regime) is lash out publicly. "We've gotten a lot done together". "Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the bad job he did-until he was, in fact, fired", Trump wrote on Twitter.

Washington national security lawyer Bradley Moss said Comey's claim to the moral high ground has always been weak. Trump wrote in one of five Twitter posts aimed directly at the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation chief. A trade war between the United States and China is still brewing, with American farmers anxious their livelihoods are at risk after China vowed to stamp tariffs on their products in retaliation for Trump's tariffs on aluminium and steel-and Trump reconsidering his rejection of the Trans-Pacific Partnership to help them.

Have the airstrikes made the conflict in Syria better or worse?
Assad's forces last week conducted an alleged chemical attack that left dozens dead in the rebel-held city of Douma. Trump added that Britain, France "have ave marshalled their righteous power against barbarism and brutality".

"I don't think they're really contemplating this", Ryan replied.

Former FBI chief James Comey said his belief that Hillary Clinton would be elected president in 2016 "was a factor" in his handling of the probe into her misuse of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

Even before excerpts of the book emerged, the Republican National Committee had launched a website seeking to discredit Comey, called lyincomey.com. The FBI and the DNC have had a unusual back-and-forth on what happened on this issue - the DNC told BuzzFeed a year ago that the bureau "never requested access" to the servers and the FBI said the DNC wouldn't grant them access.

The request came in a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Friday. Trump has often invoked the issue as a reason to accuse McCabe of corruption, even though there is no evidence it influenced his decision-making.

Trump fired off a series of tweets early ahead of an interview Comey did with United States television network the ABC that was set to air in full on Sunday evening.

"'Comey isn't credible - just ask Democrats.' The digital ads will show several Democrats calling for Comey's resignation after he injected himself into the 2016 presidential race ..."
