Emotional Davy Russell Makes Touching Tribute After Grand National Triumph

Tiger Rol has won the Grand National Steeplechase in a photo finish over Pleasant Company in one of the closest races in years at Aintree.

Screens were put up around Saint Are in front of one of the Aintree fences during the big race today.

TIGER Roll - described as "small, but with the heart of a lion" by owner Michael O'Leary - won a thrilling Grand National by a matter of inches at Aintree.

However, after a brief wait the judge confirmed Tiger Roll the narrow victor.

Bryony Frost, riding in the race for the first time, fared best of the three female jockeys, coming home fifth aboard the Neil King-trained Milansbar.

But the 19-year-old said she would have to ask her father's permission before she was allowed to drive the prize - a Range Rover Evoque.

Equally jubilant trainer Elliott said: "I was nervous when they announced the photo-finish. I think only a jockey dying would change this race #GrandNational2018".

What a phenomenal year for Davy Russell.

"Coming here I was really anxious about the ground". "I've a brother-in-law at home that keeps the whole show going for me, my brothers and sisters and dad and obviously with mam passing recently, she was a marvelous woman".

We thought the outfits couldn't get better after the opening day of the festival, and Ladies Day yesterday, but we were wrong.

The finish was symbolic of the battle between the powerhouse stables of Elliott and Mullins in Ireland. We only beat him (Mullins) last week in the Irish National and now we've beaten him again, I can't believe it.
