Brooke Henderson makes it # 6 at Lotte Championship

Michelle Wie is in the field for the LPGA Tour's Lotte Championship 2018 this week

After a first-up round of 76, the 20-year-old was firmly on the back foot at the Ko Olina Golf Club and after a 71 and a 70 she then entered Sunday's (NZ time) final round 10 shots off the pace of Canadian leader Brooke Henderson, in a tie for 32nd. Her final-round 3-under 69 left her at 12 under, four ahead of Azahara Munoz, whose 67 was the low round on a very hard scoring day.

Canada's Brooke Henderson carded a 3-under-par 69 en route to her sixth LPGA title. She said afterwards she drew inspiration from recent ANA Inspiration champion Pernilla Lindberg, especially after the shaky conclusion to her third round where she made a double-bogey and a bogey coming home. The Smiths Falls, Ont., native was too talented, and she had some very important people to play for, dedicating her victory to the people involved in the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team bus crash in Saskatchewan.

She finished with a 12-under 276. "I know it kind of affected my whole country". After a bogey at the 12th, she pushed the gas pedal back down with birdies on the par-5 14th and par-3 16th and ultimately cruises to the finish line as nobody made a run from behind her.

Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn, South Korea's Inbee Park and China's Shanshan Feng, the world's top-ranked player, tied for third place at 7 under.

The Canadian followed her opening 68 with a superb six-under-par 66 today to reach 10 under, two clear of American Mo Martin and Chinese world No.1 Shanshan Feng with another two shots back to the rest of the field, including Sweden's recent ANA Inspiration victor Pernilla Lindberg.

"I feel like I'm in a great spot and I'm hitting the ball really well and I can depend on my putting right now".

She might not be able to catch the top of the pack by Saturday's end, but Wie is now tied for 18th heading into tomorrow's final round. Lindy Duncan also was 6 under after a 68.
